What does chiropractic do? What can it help?
Chiropractic’s role in your health is simple. We ensure the communication between the brain and the body is functioning at its optimum. This is done by restoring the normal joint alignment and nerve function by adjusting subluxations. A subluxation is when a joint loses its normal motion and function and affects the nerve impulses associated with that joint. The adjustment is the impulse that we apply to correct that joint and nerve dysfunction.
There are 3 causes to a subluxation.
- Physical trauma.
- Repetitive strain.
- Chemical or emotional trauma.
The first subluxations can begin during the birth process, and continue on through children learning to walk, falling off bikes, swings etc.
Symptoms that can be caused from a subluxation are many and varied. It may as simple as joint or muscle pain e.g. back pain, neck pain and headache. Or also involve organ dysfunction which results in fatigue, shortness of breath, constipation, diarrhoea, poor bladder control, irregular or painful menstrual periods, erectile problems, asthma, poor concentration and behavioural problems particularly in children. Even things like recurrent sinus, snoring, digestive problems and lowered immunity.
