Posture: the Backbone of Health

Stand tall, live tall! Straighten up for a stronger you!

Awaken your posture potential this April! We're tapping into the rejuvenating energy of autumn to revitalise our posture habits. From fresh exercises to mindful practices, join us as we set intentions, and spring forward into a healthier, happier posture lifestyle!

Having proper posture minimises stress on your body as your bones and muscles align and collaborate harmoniously. Maintaining good posture serves as a workout, activating core, back, and chest muscles. Therefore, proper posture strengthens muscles and diminishes muscular imbalances; enhancing stability, and enabling more efficient body movement.

Posture related problems:

  • Constipation

  • Heartburn and slowed digestion

  • Incontinence

The ‘perfect’ posture:

‘Perfect’ posture enables movement with minimal strain and risk of injury. It's often characterised by a straight back, shoulders pulled back, and abdomen drawn in. While this is ideal, posture encompasses more than simply sitting or standing erect, it involves:

  • Feeling secure and evenly balanced

  • Performing everyday tasks with ease

  • Minimising potential harm to your body

Align your spine, feel divine

Posture and Health: Correct sitting or standing positions alleviate pressure on the diaphragm, facilitating deeper breathing. Poor posture may heighten shoulder tension, potentially causing headaches, correcting this can alleviate such discomfort.

Posture and Mindfulness: Both yoga and pilates foster a deeper mind-body connection, which is integral to maintaining good posture. These forms of exercise use the concept of engaging the deep muscles of the abdomen, back, and pelvis, known as the "core" muscles, to support the spine and promote stability.
